How did a little epilepsy drug come to claim such a huge number of patients? It did so illicitly. There are not enough patients suffering from epilepsy that one drug could earn profits of $2 billion a year. In order to claim these kinds of profits, Warner Lambert began promoting the drug for off label uses. The company sent representatives directly to doctors, urging them to prescribe Neurontin for to treat not only epilepsy but also bipolar disorder, alcohol withdrawal, cocaine abuse, HIV/AIDS neuropathy, phantom limb pain, anxiety, and a host of other diverse and unrelated conditions. Though it has since been shown to work for some of these conditions, it was not clear at the time exactly what Neurontin did. The Warner Lambert salesmen were lying to doctors about what Neurontin could do, and the doctors were listening. While it is illegal for a drug company to promote off label uses directly and immoral to bribe doctors into prescribing a certain drug, it was also absolutely dangerous to claim Neurontin could cure disorders that it simply couldn't. For example, Neurontin has no effect on bipolar disorder. Warner Lambert sold thousands of doctors on the idea that Neurontin should be prescribed for bipolar disorder. If it did not work, they suggested increasing the dosage. One of the drug company managers told a salesman: "I don't want to see a single patient coming off Neurontin before they've been up to at least 4,800 milligrams a day.

7314. "In September 2005, Reporters Without Borders reported the following story. In April 2005, Shi Tao, a journalist working for a Chinese newspaper, was sentenced to 10 years in prison by the Changsha Intermediate People's Court of Hunan Province, China First trial case no. 29, for "providing state secrets to foreign entities". The "secrets" were a brief list of censorship orders he sent from a Yahoo Mail account to the Asia Democracy Forum before the anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Incident. The verdict as published by the Chinese government stated the following. Shi Tao had sent the email through an anonymous Yahoo account. Yahoo Holdings the Hong Kong subsidiary of Yahoo told the Chinese government that the IP address used to send the email was registered by the Hunan newspaper that Shi Tao worked for. The district court concluded that Articles 5B and 19A facially discriminate against interstate commerce by banning the importation of a class of tires that may be legally sold and used in Puerto Rico. In reaching that conclusion it rejected the Secretarys argument that Law 171 is non discriminatory because the 3/32 requirement applies equally to importers and sellers of used tires. The argument was premised on the first sentence of Article 19A which states:The court rejected this interpretation of the statute as implausible on the strength of the second sentence of Article 19A which states:This provision shall apply to those who fail to comply but have not had their bond executed, according to what is pointed out in Article 5D . It read that provision as making the penalty applicable only to those who have filed bonds, i. e. , importers of used tires. We agree with the district courts interpretation. The reference to those who have not had their bond executed and the cross reference to Article 5D dealing with importers of used tires makes it clear that only those sellers of used tires who are also importers are the subject of Article 19A. Moreover, as UTI points out, it would make little sense for the legislature to penalize sellers of noncomplying used tires taken in trade in i. e. , locally generated used tires for to do so would simply accelerate the time when used tires are discarded as scrap and dumped in a landfill.

Never mind what the 'teachers' around you might deem appropriate, this is standard practice in any reputable education system, and you seem to want to set a good example. Quite apart from that it is the sort of stuff a Mr. Swirly would do, before you land yourself in hot water. In addition, learn the students' real names. They will respect you for it greatly. Cultural tip, the really respectable teachers always address students by their real names. It is not authoritative, it is just showing you have dignity in their eyes, and at the same time it is preventing any problems with the many students around who confuse friendliness with 'anything goes'. Sorry if that sounded overbearing. I'm dead set serious, because you seem to have integrity. In education theory, it is said a good teacher has 'self efficacy'. It means they believe they can make a difference.
